What Are Alginate Dressings?
Alginate has long been a popular material for making wound dressings. Despite being famous, alginate dressings have been underused when compared to other dressing types. At ExpressMed, we want you to enjoy this type of dressing through the various products that we offer under this category.
Alginate dressings are used on wounds that come with heavy exudate. This one is produced using harvested seaweeds, and has existed since the 1980s. The traditional version is made out of loose fleece with calcium fibers in them. Through the years, the structure has been improved to make them stronger and ready for dressing bloodied wounds. There are also self-adhesive versions readily available in the market.
